Classes

Graphic Novel - Class focused on Maus by Art Spiegelman, Watchmen by Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons, and John Higgins, and Almost American Girl by Robin Ha and discusses art, censorship, and visual media.

Multi-Ethnic Literature - Discusses different cultures of American Literature with texts including The Woman Warrior by Maxine Hong Kingston, The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison, Dreaming in Cuban by Cristina Garcia, and The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz. Class focuses on common experiences between different people.

Asian-American Literature - Discusses graphic novels like American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang and Almost American Girl by Robin Ha. Movies like Crazy Rich Asians, Turning Red, and Minari. Books include The Woman Warrior by Maxine Hong Kingston, Fixer Chao by Han Ong, The Joy-Luck Club by Amy Tan, and Dogeaters by Jessica Hagedorn. Class will also feature a look into writers, actors, and artists and their stories.

Entry-Level Composition - This class is taught with an emphasis on perspective and communication. This class teaches that at its core, English is about developing language to communicate with empathy and to understand what other people are saying.
